n Almost adv.
Those who signed up were almost women (X)
Those who signed up were mostly women (√)
n Especially adv.
I’m not specially interested in politics (x)
I’m not especially interested in politics (√)
Not especially=not particularly =not very , 皆用来表程度上“并不特别”。 The cheongsam is specially designed for your wedding .
n Fair adv. 公平地
I hope all of you will play fairly (X)
I hope all of you will play fair (√)
Make sure every deal is fair and square
n Lately adv. 最近
Lately she told me something about her past (X)
Recently she told me something about her past (√)
n Otherwise adv.
Many people believed Nick was honest, but I thought opposite (X)
Many people believed Nick was honest, but I thought otherwise (√)
Say/think/decide otherwise
Their wedding day is drawing nearly (X)
Their wedding day is drawing near (√)
The work took me nearly an entire week to complete
You cannot imagine how bad I need the money (X)
You cannot imagine how badly I need the money (√)
Bad 在口语中也可以作副词用, 如: Are you hurt bad?
n Best adv 最
She has become the most known anchorwomen on TV.(X)
She has become the best known anchorwoman on TV.(√)
She has become the most famous anchorwoman on TV. (√)。
The best known=the most famous
The repairman did not come cheaply, but he really did a great job (X)
The repairman did not come cheap, but he really did a great job (√)
Read it loudly so that I can hear (X)
Read it aloud so that I can hear (√)
Read it loud so that I can hear (√)
n Back adv 后面,向后
Once you marry that guy, there will be no going backward (X)
Once you marry that guy, there will be no going back (√).
Don’t speak ill of others behind their back (X)
